September marks the beginning of a new season and usually the busiest season for me in the calendar year. September is always full. Personally, there are so many birthdays in my family (my first nephew, my sister in law, my dad and my first born) and then my wedding anniversary (which happens to be on the same day as my dad’s birthday) so it’s a whirlwind trying to keep up with all of that.
But aside from my personal + family life, this month is jam packed with projects as well. If I didn’t say yes to another campaign, this is the busiest month I’ve had in my career as an influencer which is a blessing.
It’s also overwhelming.
I’ll admit, I recently just got back from NYC from a brand campaign to film a really cool project – the kind of opportunity I prayed for when I started blogging; it was seriously what my dreams were made of. But of course, with every blessing there is a burden. This was my second month in a row traveling to NYC leaving Hubs and the girls behind and that always comes with its share of guilt.
Yes, these opportunities are amazing and I am utterly grateful. But aside from missing my family (and sometimes some sweet moments with them), I’m exhausted.
So this month while I’m celebrating everyone’s birthday and my anniversary, I’m remembering to prioritize self-care even if it’s only for an hour a week. It’s about getting it in where you can fit it in.
When I’m done writing this, I’ll be scheduling a massage for an hour sometime this week. Hopefully by the time you read this, my massage will have already happened and I’ll find some peace of mind in the whirlwind that is September.
I encourage you to do the same.
Hi Mattie , self care is important. I usually try to spend a few hours on the weekend to myself alone., this is something more women need to do.
