School is such a pivotal and prominent time in a child’s life and for me it really does mark Maizah no longer being a baby and more of a kid. She’ll be 3 in September which is when she’s slated to start school and I have to admit, I’m a lot more emotional and overwhelmed than I thought I’d be.
With another baby on the way and Maizah on her way to preschool, we’ve really been making an effort to spend time with her as a family.
While we haven’t decided which school to send her to yet (we make that decision next week), between tuition costs (oh, yes, even for three year olds), supplies list and possible uniform options, it’s become quite the task. Most schools allow Pre-K3 and Pre-K4 kids to wear “play clothes” which is a relief. Maizah loves to be relaxed so she can play and so we’ve been doing a little clothes shopping throughout the summer to be prepared for our first (and I can imagine, grueling) Back To School season.
I made a quick stop at Shoe Carnival to pick up some shoes for her – toddlers’ feet grow like wildfire – and grabbed her some Converse All-Stars. These are now her second pair, she just loves running around in them so much. I love them because they are a classic sneaker that go with anything. Because Hubs and I will be doing a little bit of traveling at the beginning of Back To School, I grabbed a pair of Converse All-Star shoes for both of us.
Because I’ll be getting two little ones ready for school in the future, I’m a lot more conscious of my spending habits. So a good sale or special is always on my radar. As September nears, I’ll be stopping by again to get her two more pairs.
Shoe Carnival is not only great because of their promotions but also their selection. They have styles for men, women and children from brands like Nike, Converse, Adidas, Keds, Madden Girl, New Balance, Puma, Sperry & more. For my family, we wear just about all of these brands, so it’s a yes for us.
As Maizah embarks on her first year of school, I want her to be comfortable and to look & feel like herself. Shoe shopping for school at Shoe Carnival helped me cross one very big thing off my list.

Awww this is such an exciting time for you all, I’m sure! A new baby and pre-school! My son is only One and a half and I am not looking forward to him growing up lol! So I understand why you’re emotional. But everything will work out! And Maizah will have a great first year of school! Congrats and good luck!
