This post is sponsored by Aveeno. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I’ve been in go go go mode for the last few weeks in preparation for baby C’s arrival in January. There’s so much to do personally (paint the house, transform Maizah’s room into a room for a newborn and toddler) and professionally (filming videos, shooting campaigns, moving my office back to home). It seems like my things to do list never ends.
Because I know so many women have the same there’s so much to do agenda, I’ve teamed up with Aveeno to share the importance of taking a #MomentForMe.
When they first approached me about the idea, I have to admit that I was excited to work with Aveeno because I’m a longtime fan, but when I read about the purpose of the campaign it really resonated with me.
I had to ask myself, do you take a #MomentForMe even for 5 minutes?
As women, we have the tendency to put others’ needs before our own. Our children, friends, spouses, significant others, coworkers – every day there are a variety of life fires we’re putting out to make sure everyone else is good. That’s not a bad thing at all, but even if it’s 5 minutes of having a quiet moment (hello, Do Not Disturb mode) while drinking your favorite cup of tea to enjoy even the small victories of the day to day hustle is worth taking.
Aveeno is encouraging women to take time for themselves, so they can recharge to feel and look their best. If I’m being honest, preparing for baby C’s arrival makes me feel so calm and clear nowadays (only 12 more weeks!). When Aveeno sent me their Baby Soothing Relief Creamy Wash and Soothing Relief Moisturizing Cream for her to try, it felt great to know that I had gentle products I trust to use when she gets here.
When I do have a #MomentForMe, what I think about most is becoming a mom of two. It’s a transition I’m excited about, but very nervous about as well.
There are many times I didn’t take a #MomentForMe because I didn’t think a few minutes could make a difference, but I decided to change that mindset. Even if I only have 10 minutes to spare, I give them to myself. Whether it’s drinking my favorite cup of tea, listening to my favorite Beyoncé song and dancing my heart out or reading a chapter of a book I’ve been trying to finish for a month, it’s worth taking that #MomentForMe. Even a small pocket of time can give you peace of mind that allows you to be more present at work and at home.
I’m still getting better at this, but I’d love to hear from you guys. How do you set aside some time and take a #MomentForMe?
