It’s really easy to get caught up in scrolling timelines and comparing yourself to other people’s highlight reels. Do yourself a favor. Stop comparing. “Comparison is an act of violence against the self,” Iyanla said. And she’s right. If you find yourself blue after being on social media, get off the Internet for a few hours and marvel in the simplest of things.

Currently reading Fringe Hours and read the above quote from Iyanla Vanzant and it left my mouth on the floor. But it’s true. And nothing gets me comparing myself to others like scrolling Instagram and seeing how I’m nothing like them. Social media blues are a real thing. Be careful with it.
When I put this look together, I knew shooting it in front of this wall would be cool. The all blue wall is so cool in real life, but really popped in these photos. Usually I prefer pink, yellow or red pops of color in my wardrobe, but I really like this blue. The cobalt, the sky, the periwinkle of it all was surprisingly my cup of tea. Looking forward to playing around with more monochromatic looks in the weeks to come (especially for fall)!
Hi Mattie,
Looking good. You are so right about becoming discourage when looking on social media. I am new to the blogging world. I just started my blog and it’s so much to learn so overwhelming. I have not cultivated a following yet so seeing going on Instagram and seeing someone with a million followers is UNREAL and discouraging. Keep up the good work. Its refreshing to see someone who looks like me thriving in this business.
