We like Halloween here, but we’re more of a not-so-scary Halloween kinda family. When things are cute, fun, and approachable, we’re all in. The kids get excited about their costumes and going trick-or-treating of course and each year they always try to convince me and Chris to dress up as well. After hesitantly getting into Halloween every year, this year I finally spoke my truth: I actually like Halloween.
But only when it’s not scary. I like dressing up, having cute snacks, eating candy, and having wholesome fun part.
I get it, some people like the spooky stuff of Halloween. And that’s fine. I am not those people. Also, fine.
Essentially, we’re making Halloween MAGIC. Yes, you can make Halloween meaningful, aesthetically pleasing, goal-oriented, intentional & consistent.
This is the first year that all of the kids are clear on what they each want to dress up as for Halloween and I leaned into it. I know how meaningful it is to make your own choices, especially as a kid, so allowing them that freedom is important.
For aesthetics, I got them personalized treat bags and very cute glow-in-the-dark Halloween pajamas. If we’re going to claim liking Halloween, this year I was like LET’S COMMIT. Family pajamas, commence. These matching family Disney ones were an instant fave.
You know what I always say, it’s not deep just deliberate – especially when it comes to something like Halloween. My only goal for Halloween is fun.
We’re intentionally celebrating Halloween in a not-so-scary kind of way because we prefer the cutesy costumes, themed snacks, and wholesome fun version instead.
Now, I’ll admit, the house is more decorated for fall vs. Halloween and it’ll likely be consistently so. Not interested in skulls, fake spider webs, or any of the like. I think matching pajamas proves my commitment to Halloween enough. Ha!
