5 Ways I Use My Time Better Every Day

Have you ever looked up at 3 p.m. and thought, “Where did my day even go?”
Saaaaaaaaaaaaaame.

Spoiler: it usually goes to distractions and interruptions — and a whole lot of unplanned scrolling. But the truth is, we don’t need more time. We just need to use the time we already have better.

In this week’s episode of the Everyday MAGIC Podcast, I’m breaking down five simple ways I use my time better as a wife, mom, creator, and CEO — so I can actually get more of what matters done without feeling behind all the time.

If you’re ready to finally stop feeling like you’re running on empty, grab your coffee and let’s talk about it.

☀️ Position Your Day to Start Early

Now, I know what you’re thinking: “Mattie, I’m not a morning person.”
Listen — neither was I. But waking up early changed my life.

When I wake up at 5a., before the house is up, I get to start my day with peace instead of pressure. I can pray, stretch, plan my day, or just sit in quiet before my kids need me.

And yes, it’s hard — but you can do hard things. The key? A bedtime.
I go to sleep at 10p sharp because if I want to get up early, I need rest. And when I’m rested, I show up better for everything — home, work, and myself.

MAGIC Memo for moms: your morning starts the night before.

Put First Things First

You’ve probably heard this before — but it’s not just about making a to-do list. It’s about knowing what actually matters most in your season.

One of my favorite books, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, introduced me to the Time Management Matrix — four quadrants that show what’s urgent vs. important. Most of us spend our days putting out fires (urgent stuff) instead of building what matters (important stuff).

The magic happens when you spend your time on the important-but-not-urgent things: your health, your faith, your marriage, your business strategy, your rest. That’s where growth and peace live.

📅 Plan Your Day from Your Week

This one’s big: your day should flow from your week, not the other way around.

When you don’t know what to focus on for the day, it’s usually because you skipped your weekly planning. I use my Everyday MAGIC Planner to plan each week intentionally — so my days feel clear, not chaotic.

Here’s how I think about it:

  • My season determines my priorities.
  • My priorities shape my week.
  • My week informs my day.

Purpose → Priorities → Plan. That’s how you get more done without burning out.

✍🏾 Capture to Remember

If it’s in your head, it’s heavy.

I write everything down — ideas, gratitude, grocery lists, even little things I don’t want to forget about my kids. Writing helps me remember, stay present, and lighten my mental load.

Whether it’s in a notebook or in your Everyday MAGIC Planner, write things down. It’s one of the simplest ways to stop wasting time — because it frees your brain to focus on what’s in front of you.

Steward Delegation Wisely

Let’s be honest — many of us (especially moms) struggle with letting people help us. We think it’s faster to just do it ourselves. But when you delegate wisely, you create space for yourself to thrive.

At home, that means training your kids to help with small tasks like dishes or laundry — not perfectly, but faithfully. At work, that might mean giving your assistant or team real ownership of projects.

Delegation done right isn’t about dumping tasks. It’s about teaching, trusting, and then letting go.

You Don’t Need More Time, You Need More Support

You weren’t meant to do life alone, sis.

Every time I joined a mom group or business cohort, I felt like it only spoke to part of me. That’s why I created And More — my private membership for women who are more than one thing.

Inside, we have weekly Q&A coaching calls, Bible study, and monthly coworking, content planning, and meal planning sessions. It’s support that sees all of you — wife, mom, creator, and woman.

If you’re ready to stop doing life solo and start being supported, come join us inside And More. Start your 7-day trial here. 💛

You don’t need more time. You just have to steward it.

These five habits — waking up early, prioritizing, planning, capturing, and delegating — have completely changed how I move through my days. I’m less rushed, more present, and actually enjoying my life more.

Because every day matters.
You might as well make it MAGIC. ✨
