What’s Stealing Your Time (That Looks Like Productivity)

You ever end a full day of checking things off your list, running around, being online, helping people—and still feel behind? You did everything… except the thing that actually mattered.

That’s not a lack of discipline. That’s not laziness.

That’s misaligned effort. And it’s exhausting.

But here’s the good news: you can change it. You just need a truthful time audit—and a few mindset shifts that will get you back in alignment with what matters most.

🪞My Real Life Wake-Up Call

Let me be honest: this episode didn’t come from theory. It came from me, sitting at my desk on a Tuesday, planner perfectly filled out, calendar synced, intentions set.

And by 4:00 PM?

Not one of the “must-do” tasks got done.

What did I do?

  • Replied to DMs on a Reel that was doing well.
  • Rewatched a training video I’d already seen.
  • Scrolled Instagram and TikTok for “market research.”
  • Got inspired to reorganize my content system in Notion.

At the end of the day, I looked up and told myself, “Well… at least I was productive.”
But I wasn’t.

I was just busy.

And there’s a very big difference.

In this episode of the Everyday MAGIC podcast, we’re going to discuss 5 hard truths that reveal what’s stealing your time even though it looks and feels like productivity.

These truths might sting a little—but I promise they’ll set you free.

✨ Truth 1: Being Busy Isn’t the Same as Being Aligned

We live in a culture that glorifies the grind. But doing more doesn’t always mean you’re doing what matters most.

In fact, a lot of us use busyness to avoid what we’re afraid of:

  • Imperfect execution
  • Vulnerable conversations
  • The pressure of truly showing up for ourselves

We scroll, pin, save, and screenshot. We download one more course. One more masterclass. One more video. And we tell ourselves we’re preparing.

But really? We’re procrastinating—with prettier tools.

🔑 THE MAGIC QUESTION:

Am I learning to clarify—or avoiding action with a better name?

“Being busy is not a badge—it’s a distraction in disguise.”

✨ Truth 2: You’ve Confused Support With Self-Betrayal

Let’s talk about the way you say yes.

You’re helping your team, replying to every DM, volunteering, hopping on that “quick” call, and answering texts in real time so you don’t come off rude.

And suddenly, your day—the one you planned—is gone.

We confuse being helpful with being available to everyone at all times. And it’s slowly pulling us away from our priorities.

📌 Real-Life Example:

You block off 3 hours to clean out the kids’ closet to streamline school mornings. But a friend calls needing website help “real quick.”
That quick convo turns into two hours. Then you check the family group chat. Then you realize—it’s 4PM, dinner’s not planned, and the closet is untouched.

You helped everyone but yourself.

🔑 THE MAGIC QUESTION:

Am I showing up to avoid disappointing others—or to avoid enforcing my own boundaries?

“When your time becomes everyone’s access point, your peace becomes their playground.”

✨ Truth 3: Organization Isn’t Execution

Ouch, right?

This one hit me hard. Because I LOVE a system. I sell planners. I have multiple color-coded Google Calendars. I adore Notion.

But if I’m honest?

There have been days I’ve spent HOURS organizing… and executed nothing.

The truth is: a well-planned to-do list doesn’t mean you’re productive. Rearranging Post-it notes isn’t movement. Highlighting headers isn’t momentum.

📌 Real-Life Example:

You want to start a YouTube channel. So you brainstorm every title, build a posting calendar, optimize for SEO, research thumbnails, plan gear…
But 3 weeks later, you haven’t posted a single video.

🔑 THE MAGIC QUESTION:

Am I organizing out of intention—or out of avoidance?

“You’re not disorganized. You’re just distracted by the illusion of progress.”

✨ Truth 4: You Haven’t Audited Your Time Honestly

The key word here is honestly.

Most people never do a time audit because deep down, they’re scared to see how much time is slipping through their fingers.

We feel busy, so we assume we’re using time well. But when you actually track your day—every hour—you’ll see:

  • Scrolls that “feel like 10 minutes” are actually 45
  • Inbox maintenance takes over your mornings
  • Tasks meant to take 1 hour stretch into 3 with distractions

A time audit is like flipping the light on in a messy room. It won’t shame you—but it will show you what’s really there.

And once you see it, you can shift it.

The MAGIC Question:

Am I leading my day with intention—or emotion?

“You don’t need more hours. You need more honesty with the ones you already have.”

✨ Truth 5: Alignment Feels Like Peace, Not Pressure

Most of us assume when we’re “on track,” we’ll feel energized and excited.

But alignment often looks… boring.

It’s doing the thing you don’t feel like doing—but you know it matters.
It’s working when no one is watching.
It’s closing the tabs and ignoring the group chat and doing your must-dos first.

Alignment means living in integrity with what matters—even when it’s not exciting.

📌 Reminder:

Your planner doesn’t need 27 tasks. 3 must-dos is more than enough. In fact, that’s why the Everyday MAGIC Planner only has space for 3 major tasks per day—plus a “should-do” and “could-do.”

Not everything you could do needs to be a priority.

“Feelings are real—but they’re not facts. Don’t let your emotions hijack your priorities.”

💡 What To Do Next: Work Honest, Not Harder

If you’re exhausted, it’s not because you’re doing life wrong.

It’s because you’re doing it alone.
And because you’ve never been shown how to work aligned—instead of just working harder.

That’s why I created the And More community. It’s for women like you—who are more than one thing, who want to stop feeling behind and focus on what matters at home and online.

Time Is Telling You the Truth

If you’ve been wondering:

  • Why am I always behind?
  • Why does rest feel impossible?
  • Why can’t I get to the thing that matters?

This is your sign to pause.
To take a breath.
To stop calling chaos “normal.”
To stop labeling exhaustion as excellence.

You’re not behind because you’re broken.
You’re behind because you’ve never been taught to measure your time with truth.

It starts with one day.
One audit.
