Do you ever feel like the moment summer hits, your life goes into chaos mode?
Your house feels disorganized. Your carefully built routines vanish. You thought you’d have more time—but somehow, you’re always playing catch up.
Friend, you’re not alone. In this season of long days, relaxed schedules, and a house full of activity, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed.
But what if you didn’t need more time—just a better rhythm?
In this post (and episode 23 of the Everyday MAGIC podcast), I’m sharing my personal Summer Reset Routine—the 5-part process I use to make more time, protect my energy, and actually enjoy the summer as a working mom of three who does life, business, and faith all under one roof.
Let’s reset your summer, together.

Recognize the Rhythm of Summer
Summer is not like any other season. The pace is slower, the days are longer, and for many of us—especially those with kids at home—everything shifts.
Instead of resisting that, recognize it.
This isn’t the time to force your spring routine onto a summer reality. Your environment, family needs, and energy levels are different now. You don’t need a perfectly color-coded schedule—you need a rhythm that reflects who you are and where you are.
💡 Try This:
Take 15 minutes to reflect: What season of life are you in right now? What do your kids, your body, and your soul need? Let that guide how you reset.
Establish a Summer-Appropriate Environment
Your physical space fuels your mental clarity. If your environment is out of season, your energy will be too.
I always say: Work done at the wrong time is toil. So before you try to tackle a massive to-do list, check your environment. Is it aligned with summer?
Make seasonal swaps: declutter winter gear, create a grab-and-go summer station (think pool towels, sunscreen), and make outdoor toys visible and accessible.
💡 Try This:
Pick one high-traffic zone (like your entryway or kitchen counter) and give it a 30-minute seasonal refresh. You’ll feel a shift immediately.
Set a Summer Mode Schedule
A reset doesn’t mean you have to structure every minute—it means honoring your energy and capacity each day.
Summer naturally invites flexibility, so instead of a rigid plan, build a weekly rhythm that includes time for fun, rest, and what matters most.
💡 Try This:
Create a weekly summer template with simple “theme days”:
- Make It Monday (projects or baking)
- Try It Tuesday (new recipes or adventures)
- Water Wednesday
- Field Trip Friday
Even if you don’t follow it perfectly, it anchors your week with intention and expectation.
Build Energy-Boosting Habits
Time is only helpful if you have the energy to use it well.
Whether you’re craving physical strength, mental clarity, or spiritual peace, now’s the time to build habits that fuel—not drain—you.
Hydrate, nourish yourself with whole foods, get morning sunlight, breathe deeply, and stay connected to Scripture. Your summer rhythm should help you recharge, not wear you down.
💡 Try This:
Pick one energy-building habit to commit to for 7 days:
- Drink 16 oz. of water before coffee
- Take a 10-minute outdoor walk
- Read one Psalm before bed
- Do a 10-minute stretch after lunch
Stacking small wins builds powerful momentum.
Take Summer One Day at a Time
You don’t need to “win” the whole summer in one week.
Take it day by day. Week by week. Let go of perfection and focus on consistency.
Build in thinking time—time to check in with yourself, dump the mental clutter, and realign with your intentions. My favorite way to do this is through a Sunday Reset where I reflect, prep, and plan (even just for 15 minutes!).
💡 Try This:
Start doing 10-minute tidies with your kids twice a day. It helps your home feel manageable and gets everyone involved in maintaining peace and order.
