If you have little ones, then you know running simple errands with your kids can easily become an adventure. And I love my everyday adventures with my girls. I’ve especially been enjoying adventures like going to the grocery store with Caliana because it’s fun to see such a regular thing like a trip to the grocery store through her new eyes.
The car ride is especially poignant during these adventures. Now that she’s 8 months old she doesn’t holler throughout the entire commute. In fact, she loves it. And I’ve been enjoying it as well because she really has taken a liking to the Maxi-Cosi Magellan car seat. She almost always falls asleep going or coming from one of our grocery adventures.
I’ll be the first to admit I don’t like the infant stage of car seats. I don’t like that my baby is rear facing (I understand it’s for safety reasons) but even with the little mirror, I’m always concerned about her comfort and level of safety. Even if I’m going 3 miles down the street, her comfort and safety are imperative. If you’re for a high-quality car seat that will grow with your child, the Maxi-Cosi Magellan is a solid option for $349 (Target).
The Maxi-Cosi Magellan is great because you don’t have to overdo it with a safety bar or even buckling a seat belt over the seat. It reclines (which I absolutely love!) and the cup holders are generous in size (great for holding Cali’s toys to keep her busy during the ride). My car has all black interior so the all black version of the car seat was ideal for me.
During our drive to the store, I play music from a playlist I created for the girls when the school year began with of all their favorites songs from shows and movies they like to watch. There’s a rendition of the ABC song that Caliana is obsessed with that calms her down when she’s fussy. It’s at the top of the playlist.
Depending on the day, time and whether or not she’s taken a good nap or not, our everyday adventures to the grocery store can be hectic and trying or chill and productive. I try my best to always go in with a list, a toy for Caliana to play with and a can do attitude for optimal results.
What I enjoy most about these everyday adventures with Caliana is that while she’s too little to remember them, I will. I also appreciate the Maxi-Cosi Magellan being so comfortable that she falls asleep in it every single time. Because sometimes those are the kind of everyday adventures I could use during the day – the kind where she’s fast asleep.
