Remember when I mentioned the Olay Brightening Eye Cream a few weeks ago on my Instagram? Well, it wasn’t just a pretty Instagram post. I tried out the cream and wore it everyday for the last 14 days to see if in fact it is as brightening as it promises to be.
Before I get into the nitty gritty of this review I should give you a little bit of background of where I stand on dark circles under eyes. For majority of my life, I have not had to deal with them. Or bags under my eyes either. This is not a brag because I’m extremely grateful for that kind of favor and I try my best to stay hydrated, get enough sleep and use the right products like the Olay Brightening Eye Cream for preventative measure.
But about that get enough sleep part – I have a 9 month old baby. And if you are a mama of an infant then you probably feel me when I say even when I try my hardest to get some sleep, some nights I’m getting only about 4-5 hours depending on how well or long baby sleeps. Coincidentally, during this review, my baby was getting her top two teeth while going through a sleep regression and we traveled to the West Coast for 3 days. So on average, I was getting 5 hours of sleep on my best day. So tired, not so bright eyes has been my beauty forecast over the last two weeks.
So when I started to use the Olay Brightening Eye Cream I would certainly notice a difference. I headed to CVS who has an amazing beauty product selection. No, really. Even if you don’t consider yourself a drugstore beauty buff, get into CVS Beauty. Their selection will blow you away and you will become an instant fan.
On the first couple of days, I didn’t notice a major difference in brightness, but my under eye area was more moisturized and I had less creasing under my eyes when I applied makeup. I started to notice a difference in brightness around day 3 and by day 4 my eyes were noticeably brighter after using the cream. I only used the Olay Brightening Eye Cream in the day, but in hindsight, I probably would’ve seen brightening results sooner if I used it day and night.
The cream is very light – which I like and I applied it with my ring finger. A little bit goes a long way like with most eye creams so I only used a pea sized amount on each eye, evenly dotting it 3 to 4 times across my under eye area before gently patting it into my skin. (You definitely do not want to rub or tug on the skin under your eye as it is the thinnest layer of skin on your face. The rubbing of under eye skin can cause blood vessels to pop contributing to the look of dark circles and tugging can create fine lines.)
All in all, the Olay Brightening Eye Cream gave me the results I needed in about half a week. It brightened up my tired eyes and made me look better even on the days I didn’t wear makeup. But on the days, I did wear makeup, it look my under eye concealer to the next level.
It’s an easy, low fuss product that gives you big results quickly. It’s a new fave that I plan on keeping in my daytime skin care routine for sure.
