With tomorrow being #NationalBookLoversDay, I got to thinking about the five most important books I’ve read over the past year. If you follow me on Instagram, you know I love reading and share quotes on my Stories. In fact, I’m starting a super casual book club with my Instagram followers on August 15. Below, I’m sharing the best books I’ve read within the last year if you’re looking for a new book to read.
NOTE: I’m not much of a fiction reader, I love self-help books!
By James Clear
This book is absolutely fantastic. It’s actually my favorite book of the moment. If you have trouble getting and staying consistent, James breaks it all the way down in a way that’s actually palatable and attainable. He not only discusses how to start good habits, but also how to break bad ones. This will be the first book we read in my book club because it’s that good!
What the Most Successful People Do Before Breakfast
By Laura Vanderkam
I’m not an early riser by default, but in the last couple of years, I’ve realized how incredible my day is when I rise early. In the beginning, I had no idea what to do when I would wake up at 5am. This book put not only waking up early in perspective, but also how successful people manage their time during the day and even on the weekends. Such great info!
By Jack Canfield, Mark Victor Hansen, Les Hewitt
My sister is a book lover as well (blame our dad!) and she raved about The Power of Focus when she first read it. After putting it off for months, I finally read it and it didn’t disappoint. What I really enjoyed about the book is how they had action items after each chapter and they were things that you could do within an hour to actually apply what you learned. Everything they discussed in the book could be applied to work or life.
By Hal Elrod
This was the game changing book for me that got me waking up early consistently even before I read it. I remember hearing Pat Flynn interview the author Hal Elrod on his Smart Passive Income Podcast and Hal’s story changed my life. It wasn’t until almost 2 years later that I read the book and it had just as positive of an impact on me as I thought it would. If rising early is a goal yet challenge of yours, Hal puts it all in perspective.
By Jessica Turner
As a wife and mother, I really connected with his book because Jessica is so transparent about how much time we all really have. Fringe Hours discusses how to make time for you and create boundaries that allows you to be present in the most important parts of your life. Jessica is a master at maximizing that few minutes here and there throughout the day that add up aka Fringe Hours and walks you through exactly how to do that for yourself. Brilliant.
