How To Make The Week of Christmas MAGIC (And Stress-Free!)

The week of Christmas is here (already!), and if your kids are like mine, they’re excited about doing fun things during the Christmas break! If you’re feeling overwhelmed by all the things they want to do—hot cocoa, Christmas lights, baking cookies—the good news is: you don’t have to. That’s exactly what we’re discussing in this episode of the Everyday MAGIC podcast.

Here’s the MAGIC question: why would you “wing it” during the Christmas break, especially when you know it will overwhelm you, when you could plan ahead with intention and get organized? Just because it’s a break doesn’t mean you shouldn’t use your time wisely. MAGIC doesn’t happen automatically, it happens deliberately. (Especially when you have kids.)

The week of Christmas can be stress-free when you prioritize what matters most, plan ahead, and make it MAGIC. This doesn’t mean that every waking minute has to be perfectly planned.

MAGIC isn’t about perfection or performance; it’s about being intentional. In fact, it’s about making things meaningful, aesthetically pleasing, goal-oriented, intentional, and consistent. When you name your MAGIC, you name your priorities, allowing you to set boundaries (and say “no.”) Now that Christmas break is in full effect, here’s how you can be intentional and create a week filled with meaningful, joyful moments for your family:

1️⃣ Repeat What Worked Last Year

Think back to last Christmas. Did you enjoy movie nights or baking cookies? If it worked before, do it again! Recreate those joyful experiences in a streamlined way so you can be prepared and present.

2️⃣ Set the Mood with Aesthetics

Play holiday music, light candles, and add decorations to make your home feel festive. It’s the little things—like the scent of cinnamon or twinkling lights—that make the holidays special.

3️⃣ Focus on Fun in Real Life vs. Looking Picture Perfect for Social Media

Skip the pressure to overspend. Instead, choose activities that bring genuine joy without breaking the bank. The goal is to have fun in real life, not just on social media.

4️⃣ Schedule One Festive Activity a Day

From hot cocoa day to making crafts, pick one activity per day to keep the week stress-free. Set expectations so everyone knows when it’s happening, avoiding last-minute chaos.

5️⃣ Be Present and Capture Memories

Take photos for your family archives, not just for Instagram. These moments are fleeting—cherish them with your loved ones.

If you haven’t already, schedule Thinking Time today or tomorrow and list everything you have the capacity to do during the break to make this week MAGIC for you and your family. If you’re a YouTube girlie, you can watch the latest episode of The Everyday MAGIC podcast below.
