Late October, the five of us took some Christmas family photos. This is something I’ve wanted to do since Christian has been born but I always dragged my feet and waited too late to get it done. When Erica offered some family mini shoots for the fall & holidays I jumped on it immediately. I booked the shoot in September and got ready for shoot day.

Naturally, I wanted all of us to have similar looks, wearing similar colors so I decided a color story. Even though it was Christmas, red & green seemed a little too on the nose. Chris found this great navy suit during the Nordstrom anniversary sale earlier this year, so I used that as inspiration and went with navy, red and ivory (plus plaid!) for colors. For the kids, I ordered their looks from Janie and Jack (who’s having a big markdown right now – up to 60% off!) who I’ve been a fan of for years. Maizah loves looking feminine without the fuss of a dress, Cali absolutely always wants to wear a dress and I had fun dressing Christian for in dress shoes and a holiday sweater. Chris was taken care of in the wardrobe department so I ordered a red jumpsuit for the shoot. It arrived two days before the shoot and was too small. So I wore an ivory short sleeve sweater with an asymmetrical skirt. The colors weren’t identical but I’m pleased with how it turned out. Plus, I got to wear my Carrie blue Manolos with it – so no complaints here.
I’m so pleased with how wonderful the photos turned out. Shooting with Erica is always such a pleasure (life hack: get you a best friend who’s a photographer) and the kids were so sweet. My favorite is the pride in Chris’ face in our group photo. These four are my absolute favorite and it’s the greatest honor of my life to be in this family.
