My search for the best perfumes for women has been a long and interesting journey, but well worth it. I’m so pleased with my current perfume collection and wanted to share some of my favorites with you. Perfumes can get expensive and I’ve made a few purchases (I’m looking at you Chanel Mademoiselle) that I’ve regretted instantly. However, I’ve also made some purchases that made me question “why did it take so long to find you?” (Hi, Replica Beach Walk.)
A few things about finding a fragrance that works for you – just because it’s expensive or designer doesn’t mean it’ll be good. Just like we like different foods, we all like different scents. There might be a scent that smells divine on your best friend while on you, it might wear off in an hour. This is because a fragrance smells different on each of us based on our natural body odor, skin type, and skin pH balance.
If you have normal skin, a perfume will most smell like it does out of the bottle.
If you have dry skin, it’ll absorb the fragrance’s natural oils and not last as long. To increase the longevity of your perfume, aim for a fragrance with big notes like sandalwood, oud, and/or vanilla.
If you have oily skin, your skin will smell most like the top notes of the fragrance (typically fruit or floral notes). Sweet smells can be sort of sticky or overwhelming on oily skin, so proceed with caution with perfume with sweet notes.
Research has also shown that fragrances even smell differently on different color hair.
The goal is always to find a fragrance that loves you back.
