Stop Balancing It All–Do This Instead

If you’ve been trying to be everything to everyone—mom, wife, creator, entrepreneur, friend, woman of God—and feel like you’re failing, this is your reminder: you weren’t called to balance it all.

You were called to live it whole in the season you’re in.

10 years ago when Maizah (my first daughter) was a baby and Chris & I were newly married, I was running around trying to do it all. I never asked Chris for help, tried to do all my tasks off of memory, and then rushed to get things done on a schedule while equally dividing my time.

And guess what? It was tragic.

Dinner would usually be very late, burned, and then we’d end up eating takeout. I’d put my baby down later than I planned to because I was trying to do it all on my own. Chris would avoid me because I would be stressed and frantic–no one wants to be around that. I was trying to achieve the impossible: be everything to everyone, equally.

When really all I was required to be is who I needed to be in the season I was in intentionally.

By the time, I had Caliana (my secound daughter) I realized I could not keep on going like this. Work-life balance wasn’t something I was bad at, it was something unattainable.

What I needed to commit to was work-life integration. Which brings us to today’s podcast episode.

In this episode of The Everyday MAGIC Podcast, I break down why balance is tragic and integration is MAGIC that leads to peace, purpose, and real progress.

(If you’re new here, MAGIC stands for making your life meaningful, aesthetically pleasing, goal-oriented, intentional and consistent. I wrote a book and host a podcast about it.)

Here are 3 powerful truths that will help you (like it helped me) stop performing balance and start aligning your life with integration.

1. Balance is about performance. Integration is about purpose.

Work-life balance is often sold to us like a perfectly color-coded planner. But trying to “balance it all” usually just means trying to do everything at once and wondering why you’re burnt out.

Integration, on the other hand, says: let’s build a rhythm that reflects your values, your season, and your grace for today.

You don’t need to get everything done every day—you need to get clear on what matters most right now.

Ask yourself, “What part of my life am I performing instead of prioritizing?”

2. Your roles don’t compete. They complete your calling.

So many faith-led, multi-hyphenate women feel like they’re constantly letting someone (or something) down. But you weren’t meant to fragment your identity. You were designed to be whole.

Your calling isn’t “either/or”—it’s both/and.
You’re a mother and a builder.
A wife and a visionary.
A believer and a business owner.

The reason why you even care about my perspective on this is because I am more than one thing: a mom of 3, wife (who runs her company with her husband), CEO, creator, speaker, and author. I can’t afford to balance myself out evenly. Every time I’ve tried, I’ve stretched myself thin.

The key is building a system + rhythm that allows you to honor your roles without forcing them into separate boxes. You don’t need to wear different hats, you need a clear headspace to be present in all your roles.

Try This: Visualize + journal how your roles work together to create a life you love.

3. You can’t schedule peace. But you can create space for it.

Peace isn’t a reward you get for finishing your to-do list. It’s something you design your life around.

Because peace isn’t a compartment, it’s a culture.

You have permission to let go of unrealistic expectations, saying yes only to what aligns, and giving yourself permission to move at God’s pace—not hustle culture’s.

Try This: Build margin into your week. Wake up 30 minutes earlier, and allow yourself to wind down before falling asleep. Don’t wait for burnout to reset—create space daily for rest, reflection, and rhythm.

Final Thoughts

Balance puts the pressure on you to do it all.
Integration gives you permission to do what matters.
